America's National Parks: Saguaro National Park

Saguaro National Park

On our way back east on our cross-country road trip, we found ourselves in Tucson, Arizona. Being east coast natives, seeing saguaro cactuses is something awesome for us - so, of course we were going to go to a park that is named after the large iconic cactuses.

Saguaro NP is separated into two districts - East and West. After picking up a few jugs of water, we headed to Saguaro East as it was closer to our hotel. We didn't do much hiking - but used many of the pull-offs to explore.

The entrance fee is $10USD per non-commercial car. Once you pay the fee, you can enter either district of the park for 7 days.

Our suggestions:

1. Go in the late afternoon. Not only was the weather beautiful, but the park was empty! I think we passed one car our entire time at the park.

2. One thing I did notice is that the roads were beautifully paved. So, if you're going to Saguaro East (I can't vouch for West) we suggest you bring your bike and spend the day biking through the park!

3. Bring lots of water.
